Do you really need tech support?

Pre-Sales: Avoid problems before you have them.
- Ask people you trust for their opinion (if
they use the software).
- Read reviews.
- Visit newsgroups and forums
and see what users are saying (keeping in mind that many
newsgroups and forums are where people come to complain).
- Call the vendors sales line and ask
questions about the product and what you want to do with
it.
- Visit the vendor's web site and read about
the product
- Do you have the recommended
hardware/software configuration to use this product?
- Are you buying a "1.0" release?
Sometimes initial releases of software are notoriously
bug-ridden. You could become an unwitting beta tester.
After youve installed it.
- Did you make another hardware or software
change that could affect this software or hardware? If
so, try going back to where you were before you had the
problem.
- Read the manual
- Use the programs help system
- Read README files!
- Ask a friend if theyre having the
same problem.
- Maybe you just need to reboot?
- Maybe try reinstalling?
