Do
you want to produce photographic quality images for desktop publishing,
print media, or Web publishing?
Do
you have the tools – computer hardware, software, scanner, etc. – but can’t
seem to make them work together to get the quality you know is possible?

Even if you’ve patiently read the manuals and worked through the tutorials, you may still be frustrated with your ability to scan or produce quality images. It’s no wonder – digital graphics and prepress production is as complex as it is deep, requiring countless hours of experimenting, trial and error, and practice.
You could certainly teach yourself how to produce professional quality graphic images if you’re very diligent and willing to spend hundreds of hours doing it. I know, because I had to do it that way myself. Many times I had to spend hours and hours to learn a concept or technique that an experienced professional could have shown or taught me in just a few minutes.
How valuable is your time?
This workshop will expose you, in an organized and friendly way, to the basics of what you need to know to create production-grade graphics. More importantly, you will acquire the fundamental skills which will allow you to advance the quality of your work. After practicing these concepts and techniques you’ll be amazed at how quickly you’ll be producing top-notch graphic images.

Present basic information required to produce high-quality graphics (for both print and electronic publishing) using mainstream image editing applications. All concepts and techniques will be discussed, demonstrated, and practiced by workshop participants in a "live" hands-on production environment using Adobe Photoshop. Although the tools used in the workshop are PC/Windows95-based, the instruction will be applicable to both PC and Mac hardware/software platforms.

The participant is expected to have a working knowledge of Windows and/or Mac O/S basics. Although no specific experience using Photoshop or other image editing applications is required, it is helpful. It is strongly recommended that each student purchase or borrow the book Real World Scanning and Halftones by David Blatner and Steve Roth and become familiar with its contents prior to the workshop. This $25 book can usually be found at Barnes and Noble or can be ordered directly from Peachpit Press, (800) 283-9444. Or, you can order the book from me for only $19.96+tax (20% off).
This 4 hour workshop is $115 per person. Each workshop is limited to 6 students. To hold a class, there must be at least 4 students. Computers and software will be provided. Bring a friend, and you each get $5 off!
Private tutoring and instruction beyond this workshop is available to workshop participants for only $45/hour. Semi-private tutoring (2 people) is available for $75/hour. Private tutoring is available to non-participants for $65/hour.
Note: these workshops are only presented in the Estes Park, Loveland, Ft. Collins, and Boulder (Colorado) area.
