Hello from Texas! My name is Jon Schwartz and I am a student at the University of North Texas, and I am majoring in Recreation -Program Management. I enjoy outdoor education and adventure very much. I recently returned from a two week backcountry hiking, backpacking, leadership course on outdoor education in the beautiful land of Alaska. The trip was based out of Denali National Park and we covered roughly Fifty miles of triled and untrialed terrain. The program was run in conjunction with the Wilderness Education Association (WEA) and was very enjoyable. I have a great interest in working in an outdoor environment and would appreciate any comments or just advice I could get from the experts. Please feel free to contact me at my E-mail address at Jonboy@coes.coe.unt.edu Thanks for the time, Jon.

This is great to see! RMNP is one of my favorite places. I've spent several weeks camping in the area with family, and two different backpack trips in the Long's Peak area. You have some very good pictures of the area. Thanks- Jay from Stillwater, Ok.

Great page! I also love to hike, and have visited RMNP many times. The first time was in the mid sixty's. The summer of 95, I took my friend Jeff, age 63, to hike there. He was so impressed that we returned July of 96. We stayed at Morraine campground and hiked 6 out of 7 days, (one day we went horseback riding for 4 hours). The night before we checked into RMNP, we camped in the Brainard Rec. Area (elev. 10,500). We took an afternoon hike up the Beaver Creek trail to Mount Audubon trail. It was mid July and there were still many snowdrifts across the trail. In the morning before leaving for RMNP, we hiked around Long Lake and took some awesome photos of the wild flowers. It was so beautiful; it brought a tear to my eye. If you ever hiked in the Indian Peaks Wilderness area, would you please enter your hikes into your hiking page. I would like to know about some good day hikes perferrably loops or one way hikes where you can park your car and hitch a ride to the trailhead and hike back down to your parked car.We will be in the Rocky Mountains again next summer. Also, many years ago, when my children were pre teen we took a ranger lend hike which started at the alpine visitor center and ended at Poudre Lake. Because of funding they no longer offer this hike. It was great for small children because it was all downhill and they could experience the tundra and the subalpine. I would like to take this trail again but I do not know if the trail is maintained or is closed.

Thanks so much for the great memories. I used to spend every summer in Estes when I was a student at U of Nebraska. We rented a trailer at Dick's Rock Museum! Now I live in New York and work at New York University. Haven't been there in years but hope to get there this summer.

Hi Mike,

I finally got here. Took the holiday break for me to make the time. Looks pretty impressive so far. Look forward to seeing you on the trails again...

btw: Did a nice SnowShoe to The Loch last Saturday, beautiful on the way up, but WINDY at the top. I'm impressed with the amount of snow. Hope the warm weather we're having won't screw it up too much.

Your site has really brought back some wonderful memories. For the past two years, my husband and I have headed west and hiked the Teton's. If you haven't tried it, you should. Great hiking and beautiful country.

Thanks for sharing your stories. I never thought about a night hike, but now . . .
